In May 2010, the Diocese of Niagara is hosting Community Justice Camp. The theme of community development was chosen building on the foundation laid by four prior justice camps hosted by the Dioceses of Rupertsland (food security), Ottawa (advocacy), British Columbia (environment) and Nova Scotia/Prince Edward Island (poverty).

Unlike a conference, Justice Camps are interactive with active learning through immersion experiences with local justice partners. Participants are at least 50% young adults (18-35) with 50% local participation and 50% of the participants being from all across Canada and may include representatives of the international partners of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Participation in Community Justice Camp will enable participants to meet the challenge for the Church to get back to the essence of what Christ called us to do - feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and love our neighbour. The Church, as community, is called to respond to the needs in their neighbourhoods.
Through experiential learning and training participants will explore how to integrate justice-making into their lives, that of their parishes and of their communities.

Community Justice Camp will include:

  • fun
  • music
  • biblical reflection
  • creative worship
  • contact with local issues
  • site visits
  • outdoor activities
  • training and organizing workshops
  • storytelling

At Community Justice Camp, the wisdom lies in the group - the learning is lateral - the grace abundant. Everyone is potentially, or already an expert ... a mentor ... a disciple ... a friend. Community Justice Camp seeks to create the space, the ways and means, for the Spirit to move, making change and transformation possible.

Come alone, bring a friend, bring a team!
